It might be cold and misty outside but the New Year has begun with a flurry of activity at Changing Lives as people look to divest themselves of their unwanted items and start the year afresh.
2025 also brings with it an opportunity for the Charity to instill renewed energy into how it keeps its supporters informed and up-to-date with its news.
Besides our quarterly newsletters and our social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook, you can also now keep up to date with our news via this blog. At the end of last year we launched the blog with articles which summarised our autumn newsletter and a feature on our Christmas volunteer lunch celebration. Going forward, our plans for 2025 include:
• ‘Day in the Life’ features on various staff members/roles within the charity, starting with our Community Leader at Andrew House
• A story tracking one of our very special volunteer-upcycled pieces of furniture, from its donation to us through to its completion
• An article focusing on the ‘Life Course’ – an integral part of our Volunteer Plus programme
• A look at the Christian ethos behind the charity’s conception and operation
• A discussion around our strapline (“Giving Hope and a Future”); why this is such an important motivational factor for the charity and what it means to different people
• A focus on our partnership with North Somerset Council relating to the bulky waste service we run and our administration of the council’s Welfare Provision Scheme for people in need
• Posts detailing upcoming events like our third Vinyl Market (due in March)
• Reflections from one (or more) beneficiaries of our Volunteer Plus scheme and its associated residential aspect at Andrew House
This list is not exhaustive and if you have any other ideas for blog articles that you’d like to see then please do let us know and we’ll see what we can do!
